Seneca is extra special for a few reasons. Aside from being a super-easy dolman pattern, she includes two views. View A is inspired by our retired Flora pattern, being close-fitting in the chest and then flaring out at the waist and hips. View B has a beautiful ruffled peplum that has a perfectly flattering curve on the front. This pattern is perfect for confident beginners with View A being a great first knit fabric project. What’s really special about Seneca is that 50% of all sales from the pattern will be donated to various charities, for as long as the pattern is sold.

Though not our usual name deriving from mythology where so many “once upon a time”-type stories stem from, Seneca the man was a philosopher and adviser in the first century AD who is known for his selfless thoughts on generosity and helping those in need, among other important topics (search for his letters, they’re really thought-provoking).
For the months of June 2021 through December, 2021, the charity we’ve chosen is St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

About: The flattering drape of this comfy, yet classy, ladies knit top with loose, fluttery sleeves will make you feel light and airy. It is designed to fit snug against your chest, then slowly flaring out to fit loosely in the tummy and hips. It’s a good thing you can make 6 different styles with this one pattern, because you’ll want at least that many in your closet. It’s made with just two or three pieces and is suited for anyone with “confident beginner” level experience or more.
Difficulty: Beginner
Techniques Involved: Applying knit bands, gathering and hemming straight and curved edges.
All files are PDF files that can be printed at home on Letter or A4 sized paper. Each pattern includes one file for the pattern and print-at-home pieces, and another file containing the copy shop A0 (33.1″ wide) pattern pieces. We’ve placed the pattern pieces on individual layers so you can print only the size(s) you need, saving you on paper and ink.
