Ursula Leggings and Skirt is the mother pattern to Ariel Leggings.
With multiple lengths and additional (yet simple!) options, you can create unlimited looks! The skirted leggings looks great as a running skirt and also an extra layer under a long shirt. The diamond panel leggings and leg warmer leggings both look great as casual pants, workout pants, and they can even be dressed up! The best part about these leggings is the waistband. The regular waistband option is contoured with hidden elastic that is just firm enough to keep the pants in place without feeling constricting. For a quick sew, we included a yoga waistband and regular legs in short, capri, and pant length.
The specifics:
Waistband
There are three waistband options- Regular, Yoga, and Maternity. The Regular Waistband is contoured with 1/4” elastic in the top seam, this gives an excellent and comfortable fit. Yoga Waistband has a finished height of 7.5” which folds down to 3.75”. Maternity Waistband is similar to Yoga but it has a finished height of 10”
Rise
Mid rise and Low rise are included with Mid rise landing just below the belly button and Low rise across the hip bones. Use the Finished Measurements chart on page 4 to determine if you need to add or remove from the rise for your height, keeping in mind that the fabric has a four-way stretch.
Length
There are three lengths included, shorts, capri and pant length. Shorts length hits at mid-thigh, capri length hits at the upper calf, and pant length goes to the ankle.
Leg Warmers
Leg warmers are added to the capri length leggings. They are ruched on both sides with elastic for an evenly gathered appearance.
Diamond Cut-Out Panel
The Diamond Panel is added to the capri length and results in the same length leggings as pant length. It is fully lined with three diamond-shaped holes on the sides.
Tulip Skirt
The Tulip Hem skirt just covers the crotch and backside of the wearer for a little extra modesty with extra style as well.
Gusset
When adding the Gusset, you’ll trim the Pant along the designated cut line at the crotch, this results in the crotch-area being the same size regardless of chosen option. The Gusset gives the area a more natural shape that allows for more stretch without stress on the stitches.
There are 9 sizes included: XXS, XS, S, M, L, XL, 2X, 3X, and 4X which will fit hip measurements of 30″-58″.
Each of the 9 sizes are on individual layers– print only the size(s) you need.
This pattern requires knit fabric with 4-way stretch and at least 40% stretch. Please refer to the pattern cover photo in the photo gallery of this listing for specific fabric requirements.
Also included is an A0 size file of the pattern pieces for easy print-shop printing.

There are so many things I love about these new Ursula Leggings! First, I love that the fun diamond cutout and legwarmer options mean that you can make a full length pair of leggings, even if you only have a yard of an awesome print! Secondly, the waistband is PERFECTION. This fabric I used for one pair was a little on the lighter side, so I used a thicker knit for the waistband lining to give it a little more structure. Also, the elastic in the top helps hold them up perfectly, all day long!
