Difficulty: Beginner
Techniques Involved: Creating an Elastic casing, Turning and Topstitching, Sewing on a curve, Sewing with Wovens, Topstitching
All files are PDF files that can be printed at home on Letter or A4 sized paper.
You will need 2 pieces of fabric (knit or woven) approximately 8.5″ x 11″. If you want additional protection for your hen(s), you will want to use at least one layer of heavier weight fabric or add an additional layer of sturdy interfacing between your layers of fabric.
Notions: You will need 1/4” elastic. You can also use 3/8″ elastic.
Additional Supplies:
- Pins or Clips
- Tape Measure
- Paper & Fabric Scissors
- Rotary Cutter, Mat, and Acrylic Ruler (optional but encouraged)
- Matching All-Purpose Thread
- Universal Needle
- Sewing Machine with zig-zag stitch, Serger recommended.
- Iron & Ironing Board
- Fabric marking tool
- Safety pin or bodkin
- Seam Ripper
This pattern includes one size for an adult hen. You will need to size the pattern down for bantam hens.
