About: This Men’s Brief pattern includes many options to customize the fit to your liking. It has two rises, two coverage options, and an optional fly. Additionally, you can choose between elastic or knit waistband and knit binding or bands for finishing the legs.
Difficulty: Confident Beginner
Techniques Involved: Applying knit bands and binding, topstitching, sewing darts, sewing elastic, and burrito rolling for enclosed seams.
All files are PDF files that can be printed at home on Letter or A4 sized paper. Each pattern includes one file for the pattern and print-at-home pieces, and another file containing the copy shop A0 (33.1″ wide) pattern pieces. We’ve placed the pattern pieces on individual layers so you can print only the size(s) you need, saving you on paper and ink.
This pattern is designed for light to medium weight knit fabrics and requires at least 40% crosswise stretch. Cotton/Lycra or Rayon/Spandex Jersey or Interlock are a couple great options.
Notions:
For the Fly option, you’ll need 1/4 yard (23 cm) of 1/4” (6mm) wide elastic.
For the Elastic Waistband option, you’ll need up to 1 1/4 yard (1.1 m) of 1 1/2” – 2” (3.8 – 5cm) wide elastic.
