The Magic Bag of Holding is a drawstring bag that comes in 2 styles and 3 sizes to fit all of your produce needs.
Difficulty: Beginner
Techniques Involved: Creating a fabric casing, finishing seams with zig zag stitch or serger, topstitching, using a safety pin, bodkin, or other tool to insert a cord through a casing.
All files are PDF files that can be printed at home on Letter or A4 sized paper. Each pattern includes one file for the pattern and print-at-home pieces, and another file containing the copy shop A0 (33.1″ wide) pattern pieces. We’ve placed the pattern pieces on individual layers so you can print only the size(s) you need, saving you on paper and ink.
This pattern is designed for woven fabric, mesh, lace, or netting. Test the fabric first to be sure it’s strong enough to withstand repeated wash and use with various produce. Using lightweight fabrics and trimming seam allowances will ensure that you’re adding the least amount of weight to the produce scale as possible.

A great bag BUT please do not use upcycle “fabric” if making it for food. Use new mesh which can be found at fabric stores.

I had been meaning to make produce bags for over a year before this pattern was released and I hesitated before buying it thinking do I really need to buy this pattern? Turns out it was a great decision! They turned out brilliantly and are finished really neatly. I love the way they look and I have received lots of compliments about them. I used upcycled materials (net curtain and pillowcase) to make view B. I will be making lots more of these, not only for produce, but as shoe bags, laundry bags and general storage bags!

Genius and timely. Jennifer’s clear instructions make very useful and stylish bags for every need. The beauty is that you decide what size and materials to use. Organic cotton, deep stash or up cycled materials all have their good reasons to be employed here. I am planning to add a small tag to write the tare weight on the next batch!
