All files are PDF files that can be printed at home on Letter or A4 sized paper. Each pattern includes one file for the pattern and print-at-home pieces, and another file containing the layered copy shop A0 (33.1″ wide) pattern pieces. We’ve placed the pattern pieces on individual layers so you can print only the size(s) you need, saving you on paper and ink. This pattern also comes with a projector file for use with a projector in your home.
If you are making the Fold Over Elastic option, you will need 5/8″ or 1″ FOE. Please reference the cut chart to determine yardage.
If you are making the enclosed elastic legs, you will need 1/4″ braided elastic. Please reference the cut chart to determine yardage.
Please choose a fabric with 4-way 50% stretch. 4-way stretch will provide better ease of movement and comfort, but isn’t required. This fabric should have great recovery. Some great options include cotton lycra, ribbed knit, bamboo lycra, athletic knit, or swim knit. You will want a natural fiber fabric for the liner.

Wow! These are amazing! Elastic free option has allowed me to wear thongs again. I hadn’t been comfortable in them since having kids but these feel awesome! Will be making tons more!
Misty –
Quick sew, looks cute, and is about as comfy as a thong can possibly be.
Nicole –
Fantastic pattern! Much preferred over a particular expensive store bought brand of underwear here 😉

I’m not a big fan of thongs, but these, I love! I’m actually wearing thongs again! My hubby thanks you!!

The only thing I’ll wear. Perfect.

Are you kidding me? << That's what I thought when I made my first perfect thong. (I used knit that wasn't stretchy enough on the first pair so that's my backup pair now.) After I used very stretchy fabric it became my favorite thong ever. Seriously, I can't believe some of the stuff I can make now. Thanks for a great pattern!

This pattern is excellent. Super easy to follow. I never imagined I’d be sewing custom fit thongs!

if you are like me, you used to think that you are never, ever again wearing thongs. oh, i was wrong – those are nothing like any store bought. did you know that a thing can actually be COMFORFTABLE? that you can actually forget that you are wearing a thong? yup, this is what you can make with this pattern. i was surprised, to be hones. and turns out i love thongs again!

Most comfortable thong ever
Brenda –
This is the easiest underwear pattern to sew. It takes such little fabric too. 😉 😉 Very comfortable and doesn’t ride up.
Sarah –
The most comfy thong that you can own. Love having no elastic digging in. Easy to follow directions.

I LOVE the Thondlewear pattern! I’ve been on an underwear sewing spree and sewn several different patterns. This is the most comfortable thong pattern I’ve ever made. After wearing it a day I immediately made 2 more pairs. It’s a quick sew and great use of leftover knit fabric. I’ll be making more.
